Calvet chairs, to"discover" the culture of Barcelona The seats in the reception of the hotel are a replica of those designed by Antonio Gaudí that may be visited in Casa Calvet's Meeting Room. They are made of oak and are unusual in that they have one single support linking the seat to the backrest. This is made up of five pieces at angles to each other that achieve a comfortable concavity which adapts itself to the individual's back. The sinuous, trapezoidal form and fine central decoration, based on circular patterns and engrained coffee beans, give it a smooth line. The seat, slightly lowered to make it more adaptable, has five aligned holes to prevent the user from slipping. The edges of the rear parts of the seat and its back are smoothed to give them and elegant and sinuous profile. The rear legs are on enough of an incline to make it stable. |

King and Queen Chinese artist Chen Wenbo has provided a series of works for Le Méridien Hotels which focus on sentimentality arising from the object of the paintings. Both object and its connotations reflect the emotional imagery of our times: for example the fast-changing and out-of-focus landscape being an echo of our rational and irrational thoughts. Chen's works for Le Méridien Hotels epitomize his belief in new interpretations of the world and life. This artwork is one of the collection of artistic interpretations installed at Le Méridien hotels and resorts worldwide |

The design is also in keeping with Catalan Modernism, which is a movement that is present in a large number of streetlights, including in Letrero, at the Liceo metro station and on Las Ramblas itself. The glass doors of the bathrooms of the rooms have been designed by BM following the ways of the master Gaudí. Similarly, the ceiling of the lobby is decorated with a mosaic in waves inspired by the sea in Barcelona following the technique of the catalan artist. |
